Dive into partner connection, basic steps, and socially lead-able and follow-able moves to enhance your dance skills. Whether you’re new to Balboa or refreshing your fundamentals, this course promises an exciting journey toward confidence and fun on the dance floor.
About Balboa
Balboa is a form of swing dance that originated in Southern California during the 1920s and 1930s. It’s characterized by its close embrace, intricate footwork, and a focus on smooth movements and connection between dance partners. Balboa is danced to fast-paced swing music and is known for its elegance, precision, and adaptability to crowded dance floors. It evolved alongside swing music, and its unique footwork and partner dynamics make it a popular and dynamic style within the broader spectrum of swing dancing.

About The Lesson and Social Dancing
Join fellow dancers on Thursday nights at DanceWise for a 4-week progressive Balboa session that promises a fantastic time filled with swing dancing and the chance to connect with fellow dancers. Each class builds on the last class, in this progressive, month-long series.
Music
The music is provided by live DJs who play a range of swing music from the 1900s to1940’s, with a mix of fast and slow tempos. From big band and rockabilly to the latest hits, the DJs work hard to bring you the best variety of swing music and welcome requests.
Age Range
The age range is typically those in their forties and above.
About DanceWise
DanceWise has a slick, natural wood floor and is the same kind you see on Dancing With the Stars – perfect for performing at your highest level. And with a multi-purpose sports floor system that protects your health and safety, you can Lindy Hop with confidence. At 1200 sq. ft., it’s a nice, medium-sized dance floor – and the newest in the area.

There are plenty of dining options in the same shopping center – a couple of restaurants, even a vegan restaurant, and a coffeeshop.

Dance Guidelines
- Vaccines or negative tests are not required
- If you have any symptoms whatsoever, even if you think it is a cold or allergies, please do not come to the lesson or dance that week. Please, wait one week and help end this pandemic
