A new era of swing dancing is coming to Phoenix, and you’re invited to a preview party. A local swing dance community member – Ryan Pinney of King Charles Plumbing – is generously creating a dedicated space for dancers, complete with all the bells and whistles. Savage Rhythm is thrilled to be partnering with them to bring this exciting new venue to life. Help support the installation of a brand-new dance floor and let’s make this the hottest new spot in town!
About The Lesson and Social Dancing
During the lesson, you will learn some East Coast Swing with a little Lindy Hop thrown in. Social dancing starts immediately after the lesson ends, and you’ll see a variety of different dances on the dance floor, including the Lindy Hop, Six Count Swing, Shag, Balboa, Charleston, and Blues. (If you used to come to swing dancing at The Duce, this is our new home!)
Music
The music is created by live DJs who play a range of swing music from the 1900s to the 1940’s, with a mix of fast and slow tempos. From big band to blues, the DJs work hard to bring you the best variety of swing music and welcome requests.
Age Range
The age range is typically from people in their twenties to fifties, with a skew towards the younger range.
About The New Venue Swingin’ at The Cove
This is a work-in-progress and why we are fundraising. The floor space is 1000 sq. ft. with an additional 600 sq. ft. of lounge space. February 26th photos show the wall going up. We can’t wait to check out all the new progress on Saturday night!
Air Conditioning
Yes. Currently a 5 ton AC, being upgraded to a 10 ton AC. The owner of the space owns an HVAC company and he swing dances – he knows just how important cool air is. Lucky us!
Parking
Parking is plentiful, free, and located all around the property. The venue has 30 parking spots with overflow parking on the street.
Dance Guidelines
- Frequently wash/sanitize hands during the evening
- Do not attend if you are experiencing COVID symptoms, feel sick, or have been exposed. Help us keep the community healthy; stay home when not feeling well!
- Remember, NO always means NO. Keep in mind that more people than usual may want to limit the number of partners they dance with in an evening. Please be respectful of others’ choices and boundaries.
- We cannot guarantee a completely risk-free environment so please, dance at your own risk taking into consideration your personal health situation.
