About the Lesson and Social Dancing
You’ll learn East Coast Swing moves in the lesson, and then get to see a variety of different dances like Lindy Hop, Shag, Balboa, East Coast Swing, Blues, and Charleston during the social dance portion of the evening. You might even spot someone practicing their solo jazz steps off to the side. Make sure you don’t miss the dance jam at 9:30 PM, which welcomes newcomers, returnees, out-of-towners, and anyone celebrating a special occasion. The jam is immediately followed by the Shim Sham.
Music
The music is created by live DJs who play a range of swing music from the 1900s to the 1940’s, with a mix of fast and slow tempos. From big band to blues, the DJs work hard to bring you the best variety of swing music and welcome requests. Then at 11, the Phoenix Phunky Hour starts and you will be dancing to current music and whatever you want to request!
